The SafeSkin works with the CR series to provide pre-collision detection capability. It can sense obstacles that come within 15 cm of range and instructs the robotic arm to perform evasion maneuver.
According to TS 15066, traditional collaborative robots have to operate under 250 mm/s to ensure safe collision at contact with humans. The CR series equipped with the SafeSkin can operate at 1 m/s while ensuring safe collaboration. It is a 4x performance improvement in speed while making no sacrafices on safety.
